CooperVision Silicone Hydrogel 1-day Seminar

This CPD module is a video presentation of a CooperVision education event held on the 16th of April 2018 in Sydney. Professor Deborah Sweeney delivers a one-hour lecture on the evidence for prescribing silicone hydrogel materials for wearers of daily disposable contact lenses. Dr Neil Doyle delivers a 30-minute lecture on the application of behavioural science principles to healthcare marketing in general and contact lenses in particular.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  1. Practitioners should be able to show an understanding of the reported risks in prescribing low Dk and high Dk contact lens materials.
  2. Practitioners should be able to show an understanding of the ocular complications associated with prolonged wear of low Dk contact lens materials.
  3. Practitioners should be able to show an understanding of the true nature of so-called "silicone allergy".
  4. Practitioners should be able to show an understanding of consumer reaction to being presented with superior treatment options by their healthcare practitioner.
  5. Practitioners should be able to show an understanding of the consumer response to the discovery from third parties that potentially useful treatment options have not been discussed.
